Associate Attorney

Law Office of Shelly M. Ingram, LLC looking for a full-time associate attorney that shares our vision to help clients find creative out of court solutions when possible, and is prepared to pursue aggressive litigation when judicial intervention is the only option. Our ideal candidate will be Maryland barred, have 1-3 years of experience with family law matters, and be trained in custody and property mediation. We expect and trust you to know the basics, and we are eager to watch you develop and grow as part of our small team. Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively with and work alongside senior attorneys and support staff to resolve cases and meet client needs

  • Attend court hearings or other legal proceedings, perform legal research, and work with senior associate attorneys to provide legal advice and prepare for litigation

  • Maintain client files in an organized fashion to ensure up-to-date information is accessible for other attorneys, and support staff

  • Create legal documents, including correspondence, motions, pleadings, affidavits, discovery and settlement greements

  • Analyze conflicts in legal matters, advise clients on solutions, and negotiate on our client’s behalf

  • Attend CLE, bar association events, business development and networking functions

  • Promote the firm personally, virtually, and on social media

  • Work on cases within a team environment

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Juris Doctor (J.D. degree) from an accredited law school

  • Applicants must have successfully passed the Maryland bar exam

  • Exceptional communication skills and problem-solving skills needed in order to work with all levels of staff and firm clients

  • Ability to work with senior attorneys to best serve client needs and grow our client base

  • Understand the importance of delivering an incredible client experience

  • Ability to work with clients to develop a case strategy that aligns with their goals and the firm’s mission

  • Set and manage client expectations throughout the course of our representation

  • Ability to manage changing deadlines, meet client demands, and handle multiple cases
