Founded in 2012, the Law Office of Shelly M. Ingram, LLC is a well-respected family law firm based in Howard County, Maryland. We provide compassionate and strategic legal services in divorce, child custody, support, domestic violence matters, and more. Whether in court, in mediation, or through collaborative law, we help our clients find clarity during life’s toughest transitions.
We also believe in supporting future legal professionals. That’s why we’re excited to offer a hands-on, meaningful internship experience for students ready to learn and grow in the world of family law.
Who We’re Looking For
Are you a Legal Studies student with a passion for family law? Curious about how real cases unfold behind the scenes? We’re looking for a driven, organized, and professional intern to join our team and get a front-row seat to what a career in family law really looks like.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be working side-by-side with attorneys and legal staff on real tasks that make a difference:
- Helping prepare case files, research, and draft legal documents
- Organizing and managing physical and digital case files
- Drafting and reviewing court forms and correspondence (with support)
- Communicating with clients, court staff, and other professionals
- Attending hearings or mediations, when appropriate
- Conducting legal research and writing up your findings
- Supporting day-to-day office operations
What You Bring to the Table
- Enrollment in a Legal Studies or Paralegal Studies program
- A genuine interest in family law
- Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
- A professional attitude and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for Mac; experience with Adobe and Clio Manage is a bonus!
